Commonwealth Journal

Commonwealth Journal is the award-winning weekly, half-hour radio program hosted by Barbara Neely featuring interviews with writers, scholars, cultural workers and public officials examining current topics and issues of particular interest to Massachusetts listeners.

Segments focus on a variety of topics: Shakespeare for troubled youth, MCAS testing, Haiku, Fenway Park, Citizen Schools, a new edition of Webster's Collegiate Dictionary, and animal rights. Commonwealth Journal offers Massachusetts residents lively discussions of what is happening in, around, and to their state; from time to time, it also provides a Massachusetts perspective on national and international issues. The program may be heard on many radio stations across Massachusetts or by visiting the streaming audio archives online.

The program is produced by WUMB Radio at the University of Massachusetts Boston and the Massachusetts Foundation for the Humanities. Additional funding for Commonwealth Journal is provided by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts.
