Sample:
The Mead Art museum is seeking funds to support public programs for adult audiences organized in conjunction with an upcoming exhibition, Language as Object: Emily Dickinson and Contemporary Art. The immediate focus of the exhibition is the relationship of poetry and the visual arts; and this coordinated series of public programs extends the exploration of that creative synergy to music, theater, and social history. Along with poetry readings and performances, lectures by writers, artists, and scholars will provide insights on the relevance of Dickinson's life and poetry to contemporary humanistic concerns. The public will thus gain a better understanding of how Dickinson's enigmatic poems have inspired new and creative means to explore social issues such as gender and ethnicity, as well as the fundamental sense of ambiguity that underlies much modern art. Programs will be held at Amherst College and at selected sites in the Town of Amherst.
